With the ice fishing season is here! It's great to know the new color patterns for the Chubby Darter are in! New patterns tested and perfected last season are now available to everyone. Colors like the Red Tail Shiner, Viking and Dalmatian will be in big demand this winter season. More and more anglers are learning about the deadly effects of using this exciting new ice fishing lure. The Chubby Darter has no equal because it is something totally unique as far as winter lures go. Many anglers call it a wintertime crankbait. InFisherman Magazine calls it the ultimate decoy lure. In any case, the Chubby Darter SHOULD NOT be used with any live bait or chunks of minnow. Actually, adding anything to the hooks simply destroys the action. The Chubby Darter looks so lifelike in the water, fish simply rip the rod out of your hands! Simply put, there has never been anything like the Chubby Darter before and there are no imitations of it either. Each lure takes over three months to make and are so lifelike in the water, you can easily see why the fish strike it first and ask questions later. Check-out the new colors on-line or visit your local Salmo Pro shop to see the new colors and be sure to take some time to download the salmo video clip on how to fish a Chubby Darter.
Reports were flooding into Salmo-USA headquarters with tails of big fish, monster catches and boats taking 50 to 75 fish a day all on Salmo lures. One Tackle Dealer in Grand Rapids Minnesota sold several dozen Salmo Hornets in just 72 hours as word spread about how the Salmo Hornet out-fished Rapalas 10 to 1 on walleye. This was September and October, a time when many walleye anglers shift to live bait, but the Hornet #4 was simply unbeatable.
It is this type of success that has been making Salmo almost legendary. Jim Bortz, well-known outdoor writer and artist e-mails us some photo of muskie that he lit-up on the Salmo Turbo-Jack , on a day that nothing else worked; the Turbo-Jack drove those muskie crazy in Pennsylvania.
Its true, Salmo's #1 selling lure the Hornet is going to offered in some exciting new colors for 2007 and field reports tell us that these colors really produce. The Red-tailed Shiner is a silver and blue chrome lure with a spot of red on the tail, wow, what a color. The next is the Viking, A chromed purple and gold color patterns that is sure to please many anglers, named after the Minnesota Vikings. The Dalmatian has been a hit with many because it is a white Hornet with large black dots all around. It might look like a crappie, or small white bass, but our testing shows the bass and walleye love to eat this color pattern. FLW bass fishing pro Jim Moynagh spent a great deal of time working with Salmo Lure designers to develop some VERY realistic colors for next season as well, Jim designed a Red Crawfish pattern, a Green Crawfish pattern and a Real Sunfish pattern that is so realistic, you will think it is alive in the water. They are being shipped, so you can expect to see these great new patterns at your local tackle shops soon.
The fact that Salmo is the fastest growing crankbait brand in America has not gone unnoticed by Salmo Poland. They have broken ground on their new 100,000 square foot state of the art production facility to support their rapid growth in sales here in the United States. Since Salmo lures are still hand-crafted and take over three months to make, the need for more employees and space was inevitable. Salmo just moved into their current building four years ago and have already out-grown it, but their current facility will still be used for lure manufacturing. The new building site is on 10 acres about two hours from Warsaw. The complex will house the executive offices as will and painting, final assembly and warehousing of product prior to shipping to the USA. The plans call for their own private testing lake, and room for two more buildings for future growth. World-wide, Salmo lures are simply becoming THE lure for anglers fishing in freshwater or saltwater. We will be sure to post the photos of the new facility when it is complete in December.
In many ways tournament fishermen are great promoters of the sport, but when they start catching fish on a lure, they don't tell a sole. This is yet another story about the amazing Salmo Hornet. We have heard several times of Pro anglers shipping Salmo Hornets into Mille Lacs Lake in central Minnesota for a PWT walleye tournament from the Shield's store in nearby St. Cloud Minnesota. Word got out and at the PWT Championship in North Dakota a few months later; one store purchased 60 Hornets of each size and color to supply the needs of these pros looking to get some of the secret lures. The tournament might have been won on some other brand of crankbait, but our in-siders tell us that if they didn't have a Hornet, they were simply not catching fish. It will only be a matter of time before the big secret is out and the Salmo Hornet becomes THE most popular crankbait in America. We all know it is already the most productive.

Lake Michigan Anglers are finding out just how deadly the Salmo Hornet and Bullhead are for Salmo this Fall. Ron Peterson of the School of Fishing television series in Michigan reports the Hornets are simply fantastic on Salmon many of his guides now only pull Salmo crankbaits for their trips due to the fact they seem to out-produce any other lures they have tried 4 to 1. Even legendary guide Jason Mitchell of Devils Lake North Dakota took his personal best, a 15 pound king salmon from Lake Oahe near Pierre South Dakota last month on a Salmo Bullhead while trolling for walleye, what a bonus fish that was for sure!
